Postal Adventures Update

Postal Reading ChallengeIt's nearly the end of March -- already! That means that I'll soon be adding a new Postal Reading Challenge round-up page for the next quarter of the year. If you've joined the challenge already, or are thinking about it, don't forget to share your book reviews and/or pictures of the mail you send out to the link-up list.

I have been having a great time with this so far, participating in LetterMo, seeing what others are reading for the challenge, and finding neat posts all about postal-themed books all over the place. Here are a couple I'd like to share with you:

For a fun list of colourful picture books all to do with good old postal mail, check out this compilation by the lovely Kerry Clare at Pickle Me This.

Then Buried in Print, who has just joined in on the challenge, mentioned her Goodreads list of possible letter reading!   No shortage of inspiration in those 97 titles...

The Pen and the People by Susan Whyman
And I recently came across a great website belong to historian Susan Whyman, after I read Richardson's Sir Charles Grandison (loved it) and was looking for more info on his work. She's written something called "Letter Writing and the Rise of the Novel: the Epistolary Literacy of Jane Johnson and Samuel Richardson"  which I found quite deliciously fascinating! Plus she's written a book entitled The Pen and the People: English Letter Writers 1660-1800 which I am most definitely going to have to look for now.

If you have any other links to share, please comment with your favourites and help us all discover more postal goodness!

  1. This is such a wonderful idea for a reading challenge. If at all possible, I will join in at some point. Although I'm relatively new to epistolary novels, I've truly enjoyed the handful or two I've read. And your postal reading challenge "button" is darling!

  2. Suko, that's great. It runs all year so you could sign up Dec 31st if you thought you could read 4 books that day! ;) I'm enjoying the variety, for sure.
