All read out??

I'm dragging my feet a bit this last week or so. I can't find anything to read. I start something but lose interest after two pages. I have a bunch of reviews to write up of some really excellent books I finished late December/over New Year's, but I can't seem to string my thoughts together very coherently at all. I'm preoccupied with work matters.

And my throat hurts. And I'm tired. And...what's that you say? Stop whining? Oh, alright. I have a long weekend coming up so perhaps with some R&R&R I'll feel better. That's rest, relaxation AND reading, which I will hopefully be ready to dive into once more.

  1. I hope you feel better! I have this phase that my husband and I have described as "bored of being bored." I can't seem to find anything to read, but there's not much that I want to do outside of reading, and I'm bored of sitting around. It's a horrible moment and I'm always glad when it passes. I hope you have a relaxing weekend, full of rest and reading!

  2. I can totally relate to what you are saying! When I'm preoccupied with work, at the end of some days/weeks, I often feel as if I'm incased in a cloud of distraction, irritability, and boredom. The most frustrating thing for me is that it takes me awhile to realise that the sky isn't falling in, but rather, I'm just feeling stressed!

Undoubtedly some R&R&R will see your equillibrum restored! Its amazing how quickly we leave behind all the draining stresses and thoughts when we get a chance to do the things we love. So have a great long weekend, and I look forward to reading your reviews!

  3. I get like that sometimes (often), and I find the best fix is to just do something mindlessly fun. I usually dose myself with an overload of playing SIMS2 or watch a What Not to Wear marathon. That usually puts me back in a frame of mind to read really quickly. lol

    Good luck! Get some rest.

  5. I do understand. I somehow bruised my toe badly this morning and can hardly put my foot to the ground. Now will you tell me why this is stopping me reading and writing? I don't know, but it is. Human beings are a real funny mixture! Get well soon.

  6. Thanks for all the reassurances! Conveniently I had a eye checkup today so COULDN'T read for a few hours, and it's amazing how much that makes me want to. :)
I think I'll watch a silly movie tonight and that will get me back into the frame of mind to return to my more serious pursuits later, I hope. My favourite fix is also a "What not to Wear" night; great mindless fun. But I don't have cable so that has to be an preorganized event with my sister-in-law!

  8. I can relate. I felt much the same way all through the holidays. I hope that you're not on the verge of the flu that I had then as it was a nasty one. I'm sure that it had a good bit to do with my general malaise. In the end, a couple of P.D. James novels got me through it. I hope that you feel like yourself again soon!
