After an afternoon of wild weather -- high winds, hail, rain, four hours of power outages -- I could only be reminded of this wild poem (and a short one, so I can post it while the power is back!!)
Wild nights! Wild nights!
Were I with thee,
Wild nights should be
Our luxury!
Futile the winds
To a heart in port,
Done with the compass,
Done with the chart.
Rowing in Eden!
Ah! the sea!
Might I but moor
To-night in thee!
Emily Dickinson
this is a good poem.
ReplyDeleteI'm thrilled! This is my very favourite Emily Dickenson poem, bar none. (Which is saying rather a lot, considering the sheer volume.) Sorry to hear you had power outages, but one silver lining is that you posted this poem and made my morning. :-)
